Women DMs for 3 districts of Varanasi division for first time

Jaunpur, June 29 (UNI) For the first time since Independence there are three woman District Magistrates (DM) in the four districts of Varanasi division.

The trio -- Veena Kumari Meena, Ritu Maheshwari and Aparna U -- are posted in Varanasi, Ghazipur and Jaunpur respectively.

The only male DM in Varanasi division is P R Mishra in Chandauli.

Since Independence, Veena is the first woman DM of Varanasi, whereas, Ritu is the third DM of Ghazipur district. The earlier women incumbents of this district were Stuti Narayan Kakkar and Anita Meshram.

Aparna is the fifth woman DM of Jaunpur after Neera Yadav, Vrinda Swaroop, Aneeta Singh and Leena Nandan.
