UP govt orders probe into Mukhtar's visit to Secretariat
Lucknow, June 29 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has taken strong exception to the visit of controvertial Independent Mau MLA Mukhtar Ansari to the Secretariat, which also houses the office of the Chief Minister.
Under the terms laid down by the Ghazipur Court, Mukhtar was to attend the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly and then return to Ghazipur in a police vehicle last evening.
On the contrary, the MLA took the liberty of visiting the Secretariat building.
Mukhtar is a prime accused in the assassination of Krishnanand Rai, BJP MLA from Mohammadabad constituency in Ghazipur. Rai, along with his seven supporters, was shot dead in broad daylight in Ghazipur on November 29, 2005.
Talking to reporters late this evening, Secretary (Home) Mahesh Gupta said the Senior Superintendent of Police (Lucknow), would probe into the case and stringent action would be taken against those found guilty.
