Bhuj, June 28 (UNI) Two prisoners, including a Pakistani national, escaped from the custody of Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) here early today.

A red alert has been sounded at all checkposts in Kutch and security has been enhanced to nab the culprits.

Mishrilal Fakiramal Bhil (24), a Pakistani citizen who was arrested in 2003 from Banaskantha border, and Yasin Badi Ahmed (25), a Burmese national, arrested in 2001 at Hajipir, here.

Bhil had been trying to escape to Pakistan through Banaskantha border after he was caught, while Ahmed who had come from Bangladesh, was trying to flee to Pakistan.

Interestingly, in 1992, 12 Pakistani nationals who were detained at JIC had also escaped. Till today, they have not been caught.

The police are still clueless about the manner in which the duo escaped.

However, the police are taking extra precautions as Chief Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Sanghipuram, Kutch tomorrow to lay foundation stone for a cement unit of Sanghi Industries.
