SP charges Mayawati govt with befooling youth

Lucknow, June 29 (UNI) Samajwadi Party today staged a walkout in the Uttar Pradesh legislative council, charging the state government with befooling the unemployed youth.

The agitated SP members also demanded the restoration of the unemployment allowance to the educated youth.

During zero hour, the SP members led by Leader of Opposition Ahmad Hasan, Lallan Prasad, Rakesh Singh Rana, Ramashray Vishwakarma and Jai Singh Yadav raised the issue and demanded a debate.

However, House leader Swami Prasad Maurya countered the charge of the SP leaders and said if the previous Mulayam Singh government was so concerned about the welfare of the unemployed youth, the allowance benefit should have been extended to uneducated unemployed also.

Mr Maurya noted that the previous SP government had launched the unemployment allowance scheme for educated youth to gain cheap publicity.

He informed that the present regime was dedicated to providing employment opportunities to the youth, so that they could live with dignity.
