Sisters burnt with acid over land dispute

Gorakhpur, June 29 (UNI) Three siblings sustained severe burn injuries after unidentified miscreants threw acid on them here today.

The incident took place in Mahuyi Sugarpur village, where the miscreants stormed into a house and attacked Ranu, Indrawati and Puja with acid, while they were asleep.

Hearing the shrieks, the nearby people rushed to the spot and tried to get hold of the accused. However, they managed to escape.

The wounded were admitted to district hospital in a serious condition, police said.

Prima facie, fierce land dispute was ascertained as the reason behind the crime.

Investigations were underway.
