Punjab Chief Secretary issues instructions for 'atta daal'

Chandigarh, June 29 (UNI) The Punjab Government has directed all Deputy Commissioners of the state to rectify the list of beneficiaries for the 'Atta Daal' (cheap wheat flour and pulses) scheme.

These instructions were issued by Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh here today.

As per the instructions, the deserving and eligible families whose income is less than Rs 30,000 per annum and who do not find their names in the list can file an application before the concerned Deputy Commissioner or the SDM.

The SDM shall conduct the enquiry on the application and then a decision would be taken accordingly.

Similarly, any family, if on enquiry, is found to have an income exceeding Rs 30,000 per annum, the names of its members shall be deleted from the beneficiaries list.

The Atta-Daal scheme is scheduled to be launched by the state government on August 15, The Chief Secretary has instructed the DC's to make sure that the names, addresses and other information of the beneficiaries is correct and updated.
