Over 3000 vacant posts of lecturers in Pb Sr Seconday schools

Chandigarh, Jun 29 (UNI) There are a total number of 3535 vacant posts of lecturers in the government Senior Secondary Schools in Punjab, Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur told the state assembly here today.

Replying to a query by Kanwarjit Singh Brar (Cong) during Question Hour, she told the House that efforts are being made to fill these vacant posts. There are 1339 Senior Secondary Schools in the state which have 10,590 sactioned posts of lecturers of various subjects.

The maximum number of vacant posts, 584 are of political science lecturers, followed by 476 posts each of economics and history subjects. In English, 448 posts are needed to be filled.

In reply to another question by Avtar Singh Brar (Cong), the minister said that 1146 Senior Secondary Schools are without principals, while 1039 High Schools are without headmasters.
