Lucknow, Jun 29 (UNI) The Opposition parties, excluding Congress today slammed the budget presented by Chief Minister Mayawati.

The Principal Opposition Samajwadi Party said the budget had no provisions for the unemployed and economically weaker sections of society. ''The budget has nothing for the common man,'' claimed SP leader Ahmed Hassan.

BJP legislature party leader Om Prakash Singh claimed that the budget was a copy of the one presented by the previous SP government led by Mulayam Singh Yadav. ''Despite tall claims, no effort has been made to provide something new for the state's economy.'' UP Congress vice-president Satyadev Tripathi said if the government is able to implement the provisions in the budget, it would be a good start.

State minister and senior BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya said the budget was path breaking. ''It is an effort to break free from the trap created by the misrule of the previous government,'' he added.
