TN: Kingfisher aircraft makes emergency landing

Chennai, June 29: The Chennai-Hyderabad Kingfisher flight (IT 7434), with 72 people including six crew members on board, made an emergency landing at the Kamaraj domestic airport here last night, following one of its engines developing a technical snag mid-air.

Airport sources said the pilot noticed the snag a few minutes after take-off at 2140 hrs and contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Hyderabad and Chennai. He was directed to land the flight here.

After making all kinds of security arrangements on ground, the ATC allowed the pilot to land the flight at 2230 hrs.

The passengers were accommodated in the passenger rest rooms and sent to Hyderabad around 0100 hrs by an alternative aircraft, the sources said.
