Iran to supply gas to India by 2011

New Delhi, June 29: Iran today said that it would supply gas to India through the 7.4 billion dollar tri-nation pipeline by 2011 at the rate of 0.6 to 0.7 dollar per mBtu, according to Petroleum Ministry officials.

The vexed gas pricing issue that had held up the take-off of the tri-nation project with pipelines running from Iran-Pakistan and India seem to have resolved at second day of the two day meeting between top officials of the three countries held here.

Iran had sought a revision in the pricing formula every three years based on international fuel prices and changes in the agreement on the pricing of natural gas for supply to India and Pakistan.

The proposed pipeline will initially carry 60 million cubic meters of gas, equally divided between India and Pakistan with the delivery point at the Iran-Pakistan border.
