Haryana plan for implementing ECBC
Chandigarh, June 29: In order to reduce the energy consumption in commercial buildings, the Haryana government has decided to formulate an ambitious action plan for implementing the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Union Government.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said the ECBC set minimum energy performance standards for commercial buildings. The code had empowered the Centre to prescribe ECBC for commercial buildings and complexes for efficient use of energy and its conservation.
He said, the state governments had the flexibility to amend ECBC to suit local or regional needs and accordingly, enforce these codes.
In order to follow implementation experience, Mr Chander Mohan said the ECBC would be made mandatory.
Mr Chander Mohan said, the State Government had constituted a State level Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Haryana to oversee the implementation of energy conservation measures including the energy efficient building design in various connected departments.
