Manipur: Offices unable to function due to threats

Imphal, Jun 29: Some government offices here were unable to function properly today owing to demands for money by suspected militant groups.

Officials said employees of Industries, Agriculture, Tourism, and Manipur Development Society were unable to attend offices as they were under threat by militants.

The offices were closed down by suspected militants. Police, however, said the employees would be able to attend offices as security would be provided.

However, the employees were reluctant to attend offices out of fear of harrassment by the militants.
