Govt finalises Amar Nath Yatra arrangements

Jammu, June 29: Jammu Development Commissioner Hirdesh Kumar Singh convened a meeting of district officers of various departments at the base camp (MAM Stadium) today to finalise all necessary arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.

During his visit to the base camps, Mr Singh took stock of various aspects of the Yatra including base camp registration, lodging centres, parking of Yatra vehicles, fire services, display boards, langer permission, maintenance of rate lists and quality of essential commodities, security, sanitation, supply of drinking water and electricity etc for its smooth conduct.

The DDC said that ADDC Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma and AC(G) Rohit Khajuria would act as nodal officers for Amarnath Yatra, 2007.

He said MAM Stadium would be the base camp of the Yatra while 16 lodging centres including Chander Bagha Canal Road, Ambedkar Hall, Jammu Lochan Community Hall, Vinayak Sabha, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha etc have been setup for comfortable stay of pilgrims.

He said that PWD had constructed sheds, bathrooms and toilets at the base camp and lodging centres. He directed the concerned officers of the cell at the Stadium to prepare duty chart for its round the clock functioning.

Mr Singh also said that Tourism Department would display the lodging facilities for yatris at Kunjwani, Satwari, Vikram chowk railway station and bus stand on display boards. Public Assistance Counters have been opened at Chander Bagha railway station for Yatra information.

He informed that langer permission would be granted after verification by SSP Jammu. He said that Super Bazar Jammu would also open their fair price shop at the Stadium for facility of yatris.

He directed different departments connected with the Yatra to provide list of officials deputed for duty in Mam Stadium Jammu to SSP security for issuance of identity cards. He said that uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity at the base camp and lodging centres of the Yatra have been ensured.

Later, the ADDC, alongwith executive engineers PDD,PHE, Health Officer of the municipality visited the lodging centres for Amar Nath Yatra at Chander Bagha, Ambedkar hall, Jammu Lochan Community hall, Geeeta Bhawan, Aggarwal Sabha, Vinayak Sabha and Mahajan Sabha and took stock of arrangements regarding cleanliness, drinking water and electricity.
