First director general of army's Remount Veterinary Service

New Delhi, Jun 29 (UNI) Lt Gen Narayan Mohanty today took over as first Director General of Remount Veterinary Service here.

Gen Mohanty, who had a distinguished career in the army spanning 37 years, was an alumnus of the Orissa Veterinary College, Bhubaneswar.

He had commanded the Military Veterinary Hospital at the President Body Guard. Besides, he has had the distinction of commanding Remount Training School and Depot, Hempur and Equine Breeding Stud Farm, Babugarh -- the two leading, bastions of the Remount Veterinary Corps.

As Director General Remount Veterinary Services, he was the custodian of the largest organised Equine and Canine Breeding, rearing, training and health care operations in the country.

He had been awarded Vishisht and Ati Vishist Sewa Medals for his distinguished Services.
