Emami registers Rs 65.9 cr net profit, up by 33.2%

Kolkata, Jun 29 (UNI) Emami Limited, one of the leading players in Indian Personal and Health Care Industry, has registered net profit of Rs 65.9 crore in 2006-07, which was up by 33.2 per cent, compared to Rs 49.4 crore in the previous year.

A company release said it reported growth of 27 per cent in turnover at Rs 516 crore and 44 per cent in Profit Before Tax(PBT) at Rs 74.5 crore for the year ended 31st March' 2007.

The mega brands Navratna Oil and Boroplus Antiseptic Cream with market shares of 55.2 per cent and 69.7 per cent respectively, strengthened their No. 1 position by further increasing market shares. Fast Relief, Menthoplus Balm and Sona Chandi Chyawanprash are also growing aggressively. The new launches accounted for 17 per cent of the total turnover.

Emami's International business has grown by 40 per cent. Emami's growth has come from all countries specially SAARC, Africa and Europe.

Emami's rural marketing strategy includes sales through its over 8000 mobile traders and 400 small village shops covering few states like West Bengal, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Karnataka. Collaborations with ITC e-choupals and P&T Department of Maharashtra is helping increase its penetration further in rural India.

While Emami Limited is on lookout for acquisitions in India and abroad for inorganic growth in FMCG sector, it has also identified 'Realty' as another potential business opportunity. A wholly owned Subsidiary, Emami Realty Pvt. Limited, has been formed in May, 2007 to take up this business.
