Eight Myanmar and Thailand fishermen missing
Paradeep, Orissa, Jun 29 (UNI) Eight Myanmar and Thailand fishermen were reported missing in the Bay of Bengal close to the Paradeep coast after two mechanised Thailand bound fishing vessels capsized off the shore of Sandhakuda today.
According to Paradip police station officer in charge Kailash Paikaray two fishing vessels with 36 fishermen of Thailand and Myanmar on board capsized in the Bay of Bengal following a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.
On being informed about the accident, Paradeep police conducted rescue operation and managed to rescue at least 28 fishermen. They however, failed to rescue the rest eight fishermen from the sea.
Police suspected that the missing fishermen might have been drowned in the sea.
