Deve Gowda's son attacks HDK's political detractors
Bangalore, June 29: Mr H D Balakrishne Gowda, son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, today claimed that political detractors of his brother and Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy were engaged in 'vilification campaign' to defame the image of his family after recent IT raids on Realtors in the city.
Referring to a report in a section of media related to purchase of a portion of Information Technology Park by his wife and her kith and kin he told newsmen here that the deal was legal and there was no violation or irregularities, whatsoever. The deal was done legally and the advance paid to purchase the property had already been reflected in the Income Tax details filed in 2004. The property was registered in 2007 and the amount of Rs 4.30 crore was paid through a cheque, he pointed out.
Replying to queries he said Mr Kumaraswamy was in no way connected with the purchase of property and unnecessarily his name was dragged to wreak political vengeance by his detractors. If there was any lapse in the deal, the concerned authorities including the Income Tax and Revenue departments could initiate suitable action against the purchasers including his wife Kavitha, he added saying that his wife had been regularly paying both income tax and wealth tax.
His explanation came in the wake of a news report, both in electronic and print media, that the Chief Minister had links with land grabbers whose houses were raided three days ago. The Chief Minister, reacting on media queries, had denied any link with real estate developers.
