CPM resents govt's apathy towards H-K Region

Gulbarga, Jun 29 (UNI) CPI(M) State Committee Member Maruthi Manpade today expressed resentment over the curtailment of funds meant to be released for taking up development works in Hyderabad-Karnataka region as per the recommandations of Nanjundappa Committee to remove regional imbalance.

Addressing a press conference here, he pointed out the government had earmarked Rs 1,571 crore to be allocted to the various backward areas for the development as per the Committee.

The H-K region was to be alocated Rs 628 crore, but the Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who was also holding finance portfolio, had allocated only Rs. 499 crore, he alleged.

Mr Manpade said the DCM had ignormed please of the committee members who had brought this to his attention.

He said that the CPM would be holding a roundtable to discuss the injustice meted to the region on July one. Ministers, legislators and leaders belonging to all parties had been invited for the meeting.

The CPM leader demanded the government to implement the Nanjundappa committe recommandations in toto.
