Charges framed against actor Navin Nischol and his brother

Mumbai, Jun 29 (UNI) A city court today framed charges against actor Navin Nischol and his brother Praveen for allegedly abetting the suicide of Navin's wife Geetanjali in April last year.

The Additional Ad hoc Sessions Court Judge V B Kinkerkar at Sewree framed charges under sections 306 (Abetment suicide) and 498 (a) (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of IPC against Nischol and his brother Praveen.

Geetanjali was found hanging at the couple's Mahim residence here on April 22 last year, and in a suicide note held Nischol and Praveen responsible for her extreme act.

She had allegedly said in her suicide note, ''Navin, an alcoholic, is useless and is torturing me and that is why I am ending my life.'' UNI
