Cauvery Basin reservoirs get good inflows

Mysore, June 29: Reservoirs in the Cauvery Basin continued to receive good inflows with particularly the Hemavathy recording increased flows today.

The inflow into the Hemavathy Reservoir increased to 22,000 cusecs with the water level at 2,892 feet against the maximum of 2,922 feet. The outflow was restricted to 500 cusecs for irrigation purpose only.

The water levels in the Cauvery Reservoir in Mysore and Kodagu continued to rise.

At the Krishnaraja Sagara Reservoir, near here, the water level today stood at 85.50 feet against the maximum of 124.80 feet with inflow of 5,369 cusecs and outflow of 3,072 cusecs.

The water level in the Kabini Reservoir stood at 2,269.81 feet against its full capacity of 2,284 feet.

The inflow and outflow were 7,127 and 300 cusecs respectively.

At the Harangi Reservoir in Kodagu, the level was 2,829 feet with the inflow of 1,263 cusecs.

Hassan District had been receiving continuous rainfall affecting normal life. Potato farmers were afraid that their crops could be destroyed if the rainfall continued for the next two days.

The district administration had estimated the loss at Rs 12 crore in the district, including crops, house collapse and road damages.
