BMTC to set up 44 TTM Centres in Bangalore
Bangalore, June 29: In a bid to attract more people to take public transport system in the growing metropolis, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation would set up Traffic Transit Management Centres (TTMCs) in the lines of malls where the passengers would get a host of facilities.
Announcing this Rs 3000-crore project here today Transport Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy today said that BMTC had planned to set up 44 TTMCs and equip them with a host of facilities from catering to the daily needs of the people under a single roof in the lines of BangaloreOne centres.
The centres would be housing the facilities of park and ride, shopping malls, reservation, medical and other basic amenities in these centres, he said.
The aim of the park and ride facility would be to promote usage of public transport to ease the traffic congestion in the city, he said.
He said BMTC had already taken up the construction work of such a centre at Jayanagar at a cost of Rs ten crore. This would be followed by Domlur and Yeshwantpur.
BMTC had made a profit of Rs 224 crore for 2006-07 and earned the name as the only government owned city service in the country to make a profit.
