Guj: BJP Yuba Morcha to launch Kranti Gatha Yatra

Vadodara, June 29: With Gujarat Assemly elections only a few months away, the state BJP Yuba Moracha has decided to take out ''Kranti Gatha Yatra'' across the state, including Godhra'', to commemorate the 150th year of 1857 Indian Mutiny, which is regarded as the first war of Indian Independence.

To begin with, the Yuba Moraha will organise a two-day Kranti Gatha Yatra from June 30 in five central Gujarat districts of Anand, Kheda, Panchmahals, Dahod and Vadodara.

Gujarat Health Minister Ashok Bhatt would kick start the Yatra at Karamshad, the birth place of Sardar Vallavbhai Patel, on Saturday and it will culminate at Vadodara on the following day. State BJP president Parshottam Rupala would address the gathering at the concluding function.

Briefing newsmen about the event today, state BJP Yuba Morcha president Jitu Waghani said the programme had nothing to do with politics or aimed at achieving electoral gains, but to arose public awareness about the martyrs and revolutionaries of Gujarat, who sacrifised their lives in the freedom movement.

The Yatra, which will be taken out in a 'rath', will be escorted by a motorcycle rally. Senior party leaders would address about 20 roadside meetings during the two-day yatra, he said, adding that similar yatras would be organised by the Yuba Mocha in each zone of the state.
