Allegations against UPA presidential candidate unfortunate:Pranab

Barrackpore, June 29 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today described as unfortunate the ''unseemly and unsubstantiated allegation'' against presidential candidate Pratibha Patil.

Mr Mukherjee during his visit to the Indian Statistical Institute at Baranagar in North 24 Paraganas, said those raising such issue should have lodged complaint with the appropriate authorities.

Criticising the Opposition leaders, Mr Mukherjee said, ''The Presidential election in our country is not like that of the general election.'' He said, ''Raising such issues against UPA candidate Pratibha Patil is unnecessary. It is unprecedented and unfortunate.'' UNI
