Admission Fair for students aiming to study in S'pore begins

Chennai, June 29 (UNI) A two-day Admission Fair for students aspiring to study in Singapore began here today.

Organised by the Association of Accredited Advisors on Overseas Education (AAAOE), the event aims at introducing the students to the advantages of continuing studies in Singapore with wider possibilities of placements and exposure to courses of international standards.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Fair, AAAOE Southern India, Sri Lanka, Maldives Area Director Kiran Bhandari said the number of foreign students flocking to the island country was increasing steadily with education becoming more affordable.

There are seven institutes - all affiliated to Universities in the US and elsewhere--offering courses in Arts and Science, Computer Science and IT, Engineering, Finance and Hospitality with MBA and engineering courses.

Apart from three world class universities -- National Universitity of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University-- US universities like Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology also offered several courses.

The State University of New York, has also opened up campus there.

Mr Bhandari said the institutes should obtain certificates like Case Trust for Education or Singapore Quality Class for Private Educational Organisation to invite foreign students.

The assocation was planning to conduct such events even in small cities considering the growing interest evinced by the Indian students.
