2 militants holed up in a house killed in Kashmir

Baramulla, June 29 (UNI) Security forces killed both the militants who were holed up in a house in the frontier district of Kupwara since late last night.

Official sources said encounter ensued early this morning after security forces tried to storm the house in which the militants were hiding.

One militant was gunned down this morning while the another ultra kept firing on security forces, they said.

However, he was also killed later in the fierce encounter.

A police spokesman said in Srinagar that troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir launched a search operation on a specific information that some militants were hiding in Banday Mohalla at Handwara late last night.

He said area was sealed and a cordon laid around a particular house.

With the first light this morning, security forces challenged militants, hiding inside the house.

Militants opened fire which was returned by the security forces who had taken position in the nearby houses after the residents were evacuated to safer places.
