Woman commits suicide after setting afire three children

Surat, June 28 (UNI) A woman, hailing from Rajasthan, committed suicide after setting afire her three minor children by pouring kerosene over them at Valod taluka here, district rural police sources said here today.

The sources said the woman Manju Bastavar(30), wife of Chandrilal Bastavar, was a resident of Ramrahim Nagar at Valod, about 50 kms from here.

Last night, she closed the doors of her house, poured kerosene on herself, her three children Omprakash(7), Khusbu(4) and Chanchal (6 months) and set themselves ablaze.

Manju and her daughters Khusbu and Chanchal died on the spot. The son Omprakash was admitted to Sardar Smarak Hospital at Bardoli, but was declared dead this morning, the sources said.

The family members broke open the door and rushed Omprakash to a hospital.

The reason for the woman taking the extreme step was not yet known, the sources added.

Valod police has registered a case and investigation was on.
