Vote for Taj, relish 'Banarasi Paan' for free!

Varanasi, June 28: Even as the country slogs to vote Taj Mahal among the new seven wonders of the world, this city, famous the world over for signature 'Banarasi Paan' has invented its own way to see Taj figure in the coveted list.

'Vote for Taj to relish the unparallel taste of Banarasi Paan' seems to be Varanasi's slogan to help the cause of the monument of love, which has bewitched countless travellers with its unrivaled charm.

'Kuber Pan Bhandar' a 200-year-old 'paan' shop in the Chowk area of Varanasi has begun a unique initiative of gifting free 'paan' to those who over the next eight days, vote for the Taj to be among the seven wonders of the world.

''All they have to do is to vote for Taj Mahal through SMS in front of us and the concerned voter will be gifted with the Banarasi Paan of his choice immediately,'' said Anand Chaurasia, who represents the fifth generation of the Chaurasia family which has been tickling the taste-buds of 'Pankhaukas' (Paan lovers) in the city since two centuries.

''We cannot do anything for the cause of world famous monument, but appeal to the public to vote for the Taj and in return get Paan of their choice,'' Mr Anand added.

The age-old paan shop is also providing printed information to the public about how to vote for Taj Mahal.
