Guj: Commercial Tax Dept conducts VAT evation raids

Ahmedabad, Jun 28: Sleuths of Commercial Tax Department today conducted State-wide raids to dig out the evasion of Value Added Tax (VAT) by traders and industrialists in Gujarat.

According to the sources, the raiding teams of Tax Department swooped down on traders mainly dealing with iron and scraps to find out their VAT evasion.

Several teams raided premises and officces of over 40 traders in Ahmedabad, Kutch, Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Rajkot.

Over 150 officers have been pressed into service to conduct the massive operation.

However, the findings of raids were immediately not known.
