Public utility service for Coal sector extented by another 6 months
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) The Government has extended the Coal industry as a public utility service for another six months with effect from today under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
This has been done in public interest, an official statement said here today. Coal industry was earlier declared a public utility service for six months from December 28, 2006.
The employees in this industry as a result would, among other things, be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started.
During the proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike, the statement added.
