Public sector agencies contract to import 10.38 LT pulses

New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Farm commodity prices generally remained steady or have shown mixed trend in different centres across the country in the week ending June 22.

The price movement was monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Wheat prices remained steady at all centres.

Sugar prices remained steady across majority of the centres; declined at Bhubaneshwar, Shillong and Hyderabad and increased at Lucknow.

Gram prices remained steady over the week across most of the centers; declined at Bhubaneshwar and increased at Lucknow.

Tur dal prices were also steady across most of the centres; and increased at Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Shillong and Hyderabad.

At Delhi, prices of wheat, atta, salt, potato, mustard oil and groundnut oil remained steady over one week; those of gram and tur dal, sugar, rice, milk and vanaspati remained steady over one month; and prices of onion increased during the week.

As on June 25, public sector agencies have contracted import of 10.38 lakh tonne (LT) pulses of which 1.87 lakh tonnes has already reached Indian ports. The imported pulses include urad, moong, dunpeas, masoor, chana, yellow peas and tur.
