No need for deploying CISF in Mullaperiyar: VS

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 28: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today told the Assembly there was no need for deploying Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mullaperiyar Dam site.

In a written reply to Mr K K Jayachandran and others, he said the government had noted Tamil Nadu's demand to the Centre for CISF deployment.

However, the state felt there was no need for it and that was also conveyed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Mr Achuthanandan further stated he had also urged the Prime Minister to exert pressure on Tamil Nadu to reach a solution on the Mullaperiyar issue through dialogues, as directed by the Supreme Court.
