Nasscom HR Summit to begin on July 5

Chennai, June 28: The fourth ''Nasscom HR Summit-2007'' to be held here from July 5 would focus on ''building the next generation leadership.'' A release here said keeping in mind the dynamic nature of the IT industry, the two-day summit would focus on the key people issues faced by the industry.

Recognising the need for companies to adapt to this evolving HR environment, the event see participation from CEOs, HR heads of various companies, senior academicians and HR consultants.

The summit would discuss and deliberate on challenges, opportunities and initiatives in the area of human capital management.

Nasscom Vice President Sangeeta Gupta said the success of the Indian IT Industry rests on the able shoulders of its skilled human power.

''Despite the strong base of large talent pool, there has been growing concern about parts of the available pool being unsuitable for employment.

''Attracting, developing and retaining the right talent have become a key priority for all stakeholders including IT industry, academia, and government,'' she said.

This year's summit would provide a platform to discuss innovative models of talent development as well as focus on strategies being adopted by the industry to discuss the next generation leadership.

''For developing industry-ready talent, NASSCOM has taken the lead in with focussed initiatives in this direction including setting up of the finishing schools, academia development program, database of employees, certification programs for IT and BPO employees etc,'' she added.

IT and Communications Minister A Raja, Nasscom President Kiran Karnik, Nasscom Chairman and Cognizant Vice-President Lakshmi Narayanan would attend the inaugural function.
