Mulford asks China and Tibetans to continue dialogue
Dharamshala, June 28 (UNI) American Ambassador to India David C Mulford has called upon the Chinese Government and the Tibetan exiles to continue their dialogue for an amicable settlement of the Tibet issue.
''The US encourages continuous dialogue between the Chinese Government and the Tibetans over the Tibet issue,'' he told reporters during his two-day visit to a school for Tibetan exiles here.
Mr Mulford hoped that they would continue their dialogue that they have had over the period of last four or five years and said the Chinese should not think that none was backing the Tibetans.
''It is not like this. The US will always stand besides the Tibetans during their hour of crises,'' he said.
Tsewang Yeshi, the president of the Tibetan children village school chain, said the US has been supportive of their cause.
The American Ambassador also called upon the Spiritual leader of the Tibetan Government-in-exile the Dalai Lama before leaving for Delhi this evening.
