Minister calls for ban on students using mobiles

Puducherry, June 28(UNI) Social Welfare Minister M Kandasamy today gave a call for banning the use of mobile phones by students in schools and colleges.

Inaugurating a two-day training camp on suicide prevention here, Mr Kandasamy pointed out to the misuse of mobile phones by the students and it's ill-effects.

Welcoming the gathering, Puducherry Women's Commission Chairperson Kamalini said the annual number of suicide cases here was above 500 and added while it was 569 during 2000-01, it stood at 526 for 2006-07.
