Pramod Mahajan Murder trial adjourned to July 12
Mumbai, June 28: The trial in BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's murder case was today adjourned to July 12 as the prosecution failed to make an application for assignment of court following transfer of the trial Judge to the NDPS court.
The Additional Session Court Judge S P Davare, who was presiding over the case, has been transferred to NDPS court from this month.
On the last occasion, Judge Davare had asked the prosecution to make an formal application to the Principal judge Ashok Bhangale for assignment of court. However, prosecution had not made any application so far.
Judge Davare adjourned the matter till July 12.
Special Public Prosecutor Ujwal Nikam said there was a circular issued by Bombay High Court that a judge, who is presiding over NDPS trial cases, cannot conduct trial of IPC cases.
On April 22, last year Mahajan was shot at his Worli residence by his younger brother Praveen. He succumbed to injuries on May three in P D Hinduja Hospital.
