Kalam to inaugurate conference on space transportaion

Hyderabad, June 28 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the two-day international conference on High Speed Trans-atmospheric Air and Space Transportation here tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here today, Aeronautical Society of India Chairman V K Saraswat said the objectives of the conference were to share and consolidate the knowledge and experience gained in conceptualisation, design, development and testing of advanced aerospace systems and technologies, identify thrust areas for future research and development, and release high quality technical documentation for future reference and have expertise established in India in high speed air and space transportation.

He said the conference would lead to future international air and space transportation initiatives as advances take place in this important area in India and abroad. He said the conference would help future collaborative intra and international linkages for joint development, exchange of information and sharing of experience in the design and development of aerospace systems of the 21st century.

The conference would present a world-class set of technical documents, he said and added 200 delegates would attend the conference in which 60 papers would be submitted.

He said experts from Japan, Australia, Russia, South Africa and Israel would attend the conference.

He added that the major topics to be discussed includes technologies and facilities for advanced space transportation system, Trans-atmospheric Air Breathing Vehicles, Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle, Materials for Hypersonic Aerospace Vehicles, Shock Tunnel Testing, Hypersonic Missile Defence Systems and others.
