Judgement against RJD MP Shahabuddin deferred

Siwan, June 28: A special court today deferred the judgement against incarcerated RJD MP MD Shahabuddin in connection with abduction of former MLA Viren Pandey in 1990.

After completion of trial, the court had fixed June 28 to pronounce the judgement which was deferred to June 30.

The court during the day also conducted the trial against Shahabuddin in another criminal case of vehicle theft, which was in the final stage.

As per the charges in abduction case Md Shahabuddin was involved in kidnapping the former MLA, who was also then chairperson of Pachrukhi sugar mill in 1990. Mr Viren Pandey was later released and was asked to pay some extortion on a monthly basis.

MP Shahabuddin had already been convicted in two other criminal cases in which he had been given life sentence and two years of imprisonment.

The MP is currently lodged in Siwan jail sincc 2005.
