Fire breaks out in auditorium during Jayshree Tea AGM

Kolkata, June 28 (UNI) A fire broke out in a city auditorium today due to a short circuit when the B K Birla group company Jayshree Tea's AGM was on.

Fire Brigade sources said four fire tenders rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control.

Kala Mandir auditorium sources said they tried to contain the blaze initially but failed.

Company Chairman B K Birla, however, passed five resolutions before leaving the hall. The people inside were evacuated as the fire broke out.

The five resolutions included reappointment of auditor, dividend declaration and profit and loss account.

The auditorium management, meanwhile, cancelled all other programmes in both halls -- Kalakunja and Kalamandir.
