Delhi BJP for extending last date for paying conversion charges
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Holding the Union Urban Development Ministry responsible for the difficulties being faced by traders in connection with depositing conversion fees, the Delhi BJP today demanded extension till August 31 of the last date for depositing the fees.
In a statement issued here, BJP Delhi Pradesh chief Harshvardhan said, ''the fees has been revised only the last week and depositing of the fees by lakhs of traders and other service providers only within 10 days is neither practicable nor possible. It clearly indicates that the Government is deliberately harassing the traders and other service providers.'' Reiterating the stand of the BJP that parking fee and conversion fee should not be imposed at all, he said, ''the parking fee and conversion fee are being imposed on the people of Delhi under a grave conspiracy''.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said the fees should be nominal and recovered in one lump-sum and it should not be recovered annually.
He demanded that such fees not be recovered at all from the colonies that came up before 1962, JJ clusters, rehabilitation colonies, unauthorised colonies and villages.
He said the BJP councillors in MCD shall stage a protest march in connection with these demands. These Councillors will start from Town Hall and go to Nirman Bhawan and submit a memorandum to Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy in this regard.
