CWC members in Kashmir to seek votes for Patil
Srinagar, June 28 (UNI) As part of the Congress campaign to garner maximum votes from Jammu and Kashmir for its presidential candidate Pratibha Patil for July 19 polls, Congress Working Committee (WCW) member M M Jacob held a series of meetings with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and other senior party leaders here.
Mr Jacob, who is in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs, arrived here yesterday to discuss issues pertaining to the presidential election and the state Congress and political situation.
He called on Mr Azad here last evening and also interacted with senior party leaders to discuss organisational matters.
Mr Jacob was recently inducted into the CWC, the highest decision making body of the party, and given the charge of Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka.
He had recently relinquished the charge as Meghalaya Governor.
