Bill to regulate clinical establishments in Monsoon Session
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) The Government will introduce in the Monsoon Session of Parliament a Bill seeking to provide a legislative framework for the registration and regulation of clinical establishments.
''The Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Bill, 2007 will not be mandatorily applicable to all states. It will just be a general framework, and will be applicable only after the State Assembly concerned concur with it since health is a State subject,'' Information and Broadcating Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting that gave the approval for the introduction of the Bill.
So far four States -- Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur -- have expressed their willingness to introduce the legislation, Mr Dasmunsi said.
The Bill, he said, would improve the quality of health services by prescribing minimum standards for facilities and services.
It would also initiate the process for the creation of a national registry of clinical establishments.
