UT Administration forms 'alliance' to fight hunger
Chandigarh, June 27 (UNI) In order to eradicate hunger and malnutrition from this city the Chandigarh Administration has set up a 'Regional Alliance against Hunger'.
According to an official press release here, the Alliance under the chairmanship of Home Secretary, UT Administration would mobilise political will, technical expertise and financial resources to reduce hunger and to improve nutritional status of residents in the Union Territory.
The Alliance will hold meeting once in three months and has been set up as per the directions of the Government of India.
The other members of the Alliance would be Deputy Commissioner-cum-Director Food and Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Director Health Services, Director Social Welfare, Director Public Instructions (Schools), all Sub Divisional Magistrates and Block Development and Panchayat Officers, the release stated.
The Joint Director, Food and Supplies and Consumer Affairs would be the Member Secretary of the Alliance, the release added.
