Train derails, two killed

Samastipur, Jun 27 (UNI) At least two people were killed today when the engine and eight coaches of a passenger train derailed following a collision with a tanker at an unmanned road-rail crossing between Kanti and Motipur stations under Samastipur division of East Central Railway.

Official sources here said the victims had been identified as the driver and the helper of the ill fated tanker which was knocked down by 414 down Raxaul-Muzaffarpur passenger train this evening.

Train services in Muzaffarpur-Motihari section were disrupted following the accident and restoration work had started, sources added.Divisional railway manager of Samastipur B Srihari rushed to the spot accompanied by a host of senior officials.
