Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Sub-Inspector (surveillance squad) C J Goswami of Karanj police station set up a dragnet near Laldarwaja area and nabbed one Rashidali alias Abdulali Ansari (23) when he arrived with the tiffin-bomb, police sources said.

Later, bomb-disposal squad defused the tiffin-bomb in the nearby SRP ground in the evening.

Police sources did not rule out the possibility that the bomb was brought here with an aim to disturb the communal harmony and peace by targetting the forthcoming Rath Yatra of Lord Jaggannath, which is slated for July 16.

A case has been registered against Abdulali under Arms and Ammunition Act and further investigations are on, sources added.
