Three Sahnewal councilors quit Cong, join SAD
Ludhiana, June 27 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is all set to capture the Notified Area Committee (NAC) of Sahnewal, with three Congress Councilors today deciding to join the ruling party.
With this, in the 13 members NAC, the strength of the anti Congress united front rose to nine, including one local MLA.
Those who joined the SAD included former Senior Vice-President of NAC Krishan Pal Singh, Councilor Randhir Singh and Puran Chand Bagga. They announced their decision to severe ties with the Congress in the presence of Public Relations minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Tourism Minister Hira Singh Gabria at Chandigarh today.
Mr Majithia and Mr Gabria welcomed the three councilors in the SAD fold and honoured each of them with a 'siropa'.
