State govt braces itself for milk bandh agitation
Mumbai, Jun 27 (UNI) The State government has taken adequate measures for the proposed milk bandh agitation and has stored enough milk that is believed to suffice for two days for the city, according to Dairy Development Minister Anees Ahmed here today.
Speaking at a meeting called to discuss the situation that would arise after the agitation, Mr Ahmed said apart from this, the milk powder and butter stock has also been increased.
He said Gujarat has also been asked to supply milk to Maharashtra in case of milk shortage.
He said the government has increased milk rate to Re one last year and it has appointed a committee to decide the margin money.
The committee will meet tomorrow in Kolhapur. In all, 60 lakh litres of milk comes to Mumbai from 14 institutions.
