Official to hold talks on Eritrean ship
Mangalore, June 27 (UNI) Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao will be meeting top officials of the union government at New Delhi to discuss the problems concerning the Eritrean ship 'MV Den Den' which sank on June 23 killing three sailors, near Tannirbavi Beach.
During his meeting, Mr Rao was likely to touch upon key issues including the impact on the sea coast and steps to be taken to prevent any possible pollution besides safe return of 21 survivors.
The meeting was also likely to decide on steps to be taken on claims arising from damage caused to the sea by the ship and expenditure on security measures to be met by the ship's insurer.
Meanwhile, all the 21 sailors, admitted to various hospitals in and around Mangalore, were discharged and transferred to a hotel in the city.
The Ambassador from Eritrea was expected here today to make arrangements to take the survivors back.
