MRPS demands justice

Tirupati, June 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Madiga Reservation Poratta Samithi (MRPS), fighting for the categorization of SCs, today demanded the Scheduled Caste Reservation Categorization National Commission (SCRCNC) to provide justice through categorization of SCs.

In a letter, submitted to the Commission, MRPS State President Dandu Veeraiah Madiga alleged that the state government had not properly implemented the SC reservations since last 52 years, and only some of the castes like Mala and Adi Andhra were benefited by the implementation.

In 1965 the B N Lokur Committee announced the Mala community in the state as advanced caste and recommended the government to de-schedule this community from SC list in the state, Mr Madiga added.

He demanded the Commission to submit its letter to the Centre and see the categorization should be introduced from the present academic year.

Meanwhile, Mala Mahanadu leaders from different districts, Ram Murthy, K Ramanaiah and K Naga Raju submitted the anti-SC categorization representation to the Commission. They alleged that the proposal for classification of SC into various categories was the result of a political conspiracy and it was hatched to derogate and obliterate the already existing problems of the reserved categories.

It may be recalled that Supreme Court had set aside the earlier order of government of Andhra Pradesh on the same issue stating that the proposed classification was unconstitutional and would dishonour the ideology of Dr Babna Saheb Ambedkar.
