Mauni Maharaj completes 5-day underground 'samadhi'

Azamgarh, June 27 (UNI) The whole atmosphere echoed with 'Har Har Mahadev' chants when Swami Abhay Chaitanya Mauni Maharaj came out successfully from a five-day long 'samadhi' from a 15-foot- deep trench.

''Human body is a most wonderful laboratory. Through yogic power, one can control heart beats and pulses. When I went into samadhi on June 23, I suspended all the functions of my body and mind,'' the 'yogi' said.

''One can prolong the duration of samadhi through sadhana.

Because of this state, it does not matter if the samadhi is taken underground or in water or in a glass cabin,'' he added.

When Mauni Maharaj was stepping inside the 15 ft deep trench, the district administration was worried whether he will be able to come out alive or not.

However, the 'yogi' showed that nothing is above faith and came out successfully after the five day long yogic feat.

When Maharaj came out of the 'samadhi,' he was slightly unconscious, however, he gained senses after having a 'jal abhishek' (holy bath).

The whole atmosphere turned ethereal, when devouts in large numbers congregated to get blessings of the baba and chanted 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'shlokas' from the holy Geeta and Ramayana.
