Maoists plant explosives under bridge in Jamui

Jamui, June 27: A bag containing powerful explosives was recovered from under a bridge late last night foiling Maoist attempts to blow it up, during their two-day economic blockade call, police informed today.

The Maoists had planted the high powered explosives under Anjan bridge near Quil river, about 1.5 km from the Jamui railway station.

Police sources here said that following directives to keep extra vigil on the bridges, the patrolling squad scanned each and every bridge in the district and in due course they recovered the bag under the Anjan bridge.

Sources said that the Maoists had placed the bag under the bridge with an intention to blow it up which was foiled following the alertness and timely action of the security personnel.

According to the source, the bag contained three gelatin sticks, 25 m fuse wire, 14 electronic detonators, battery and other articles used in triggering explosions.

The sources said patrolling had been further enhanced and the police was taking extra precaution to foil attempts of the Maoists in the district during their economic blockade.

Massive manhunt had been launched to nab the extremists.
